Merchant Focus is currently based in Dublin, Ohio and has been providing merchant accounts since 2004.

Overall we were relatively underwhelmed with the rates and costs associated with Merchant Focus, while they are not blatantly overcharging their merchants we currently think there are better options available. They have a solid BBB rating and seem to have a fairly strong support system for merchants in their portfolio.

They do offer a surprisingly honest look at testimonials on their website, not only providing the name but also website of the individuals who provided the reviews. This is a nice touch as some times, one gets the feeling that not all testimonials on a website were actually generated by the merchants themselves.

Merchant Focus does offer their merchants seasonal downtime and interchange-plus pricing, which is typically the way that most merchants can best save money on their accounts. Of course the “plus” is the thing merchants must take care to educate themselves on as it is also the area where merchants can be taken advantage of if they’re unfamiliar with the terminology that accompanies interchange.

They do have a 3 year contract and cancellation fees, though we have heard from merchants that they were able to have the fee waived in the past.
