Leap Payments is a relatively new player in the credit card processing field. However they offer a very competitive option for merchants looking to save money on their merchant accounts. They had competitive rates and the schedule of rates and fees that we received from Leap Payments did not show any major surprises or headaches.

One of their biggest strengths and reasons for our recommendation is their website, which includes substantial testimonials from their customer base – a strong indicator of the companies treatment of their customers. As mentioned, this is a new company in the field so there is some added importance in seeing verifiable contacts for the merchants that have worked with them.

They also are fairly active in social media outlets. While this does little to improve their ability to process credit cards, we have found that those companies that are involved with social media are often the same companies that are attentive to their customer service. It seems as though those processors who are active in their reach out campaigns are also aware of the impact negative reviews can have on their companies success, especially with a young company such as Leap Payments.

As always with a new company like this there is a limited pool of current and former merchants to get detailed information from. As a result make sure you are reading through your contract carefully for anything that looks out of the ordinary, specifically for items related to contracts/cancellation fees.
