While not the worst company that we have reviewed since launching this website, Crescent Processing is a company that we feel raises enough red flags that we are confident merchants can find better alternatives through their own research. Note as of 2024 Crescent is under new management and apparently focused on better customer service and support including offering month to month no early termination fee services.
One of the issues that plagues Crescent Processing is a distributed sales force, while they do have in house representatives, when companies outsource a number of the sales in lowers their ability to properly train and monitor, and maintaining quality control for all merchants calling in.
It seems as though in an effort to prevent these potential issues from resulting in merchants constantly cancelling accounts, Crescent Processing has one of the highest early termination fees we have come across – we have railed against the need/use of cancellation fees and specified term contracts in the past, but a 4 year contract with fees for early termination exceeding $450 was shocking to discover.
As with all payment processors we highly recommend that merchants perform real due diligence before signing a contract with Crescent Processing. Be sure that you have fully read and understand your merchant contract, as well as have received a full schedule of rates and fees so that you are not surprised when your statements begin coming in.
