Charge.com is a very difficult processor to recommend. While their initial rates can be fairly attractive, there are other issues with the accounts that prevent us from giving the company a higher rating.
Both their BBB score as well as their parent company (Pipeline Data Processing) are obvious red flags for any merchant considering Charge.com. Additionally we found that their contracts routinely included 2 year contracts and $295 cancellation fees. While not egregious concerns, we were specifically told by the sales representative that we spoke with that they did not have either a specified contract length or cancellation fee. That both were hidden inside the actual contract we were sent made us wary of other potential hidden items that would show themselves after signing a contract.
This is a relatively old company in the industry and it does has a large portfolio of customers, while our initial review would not have us advising merchants to give real consideration to Charge.com, we are always open to reevaluating the reviews as time progresses and more information is made available.
