Total Merchant Services has been in business since 1996 and is based out of Colorado. They are a fairly large player in the credit card processing industry and as such seem to be experiencing many of the issues that we commonly see with larger corporations. These issues include the problems that arise when many of your sales are through ISOs and agents, the ability for the company to maintain strict control over the sales process and customer service provided gets diminished.
They are currently rated an A+ by the Better Business Bureau, and most of the complaints look as though they are a result of their inability to maintain quality control across there sales process. Another common complaint is that it seems as though their sales representatives/agents are not always as forthcoming as they could be with the full terms regarding contract length and cancellation/termination fees. The standard contract seems to have a $300 cancellation fee, so make sure to carefully read your contract and beware of any rep that promises no cancellation fees exists.
