If you swipe the card the rate is 2.75 if you key it in its 3.5 +15cents,

Its in the contract. Best thing to do is to always swipe the cards.

WE AGREED ON 2.75% AND YOU ARE ALREADY RIPPING ME OFF,
THAT’S UNPROFESSIONAL 3.5% IS NOT WHAT I WAS TOLD, YOUR SERVICE IS
GREAT, BUT YOU SHOULD TAKE CARE OF YOUR CUSTOMERS, THE WAY I DO.
NO BS, JUST BE HONEST AND YOU WILL GO A LONG WAY….LET ME KNOW
IF THERE WAS A MISTAKE OR SOMETHING,,,,,THANKS JOEL

Joel, thanks for your response. We are not Square but are a review website for individuals looking for additional information and reviews on credit card processing. Based on your experience thus far it would appear that the credit card transaction that you ran was done not using the swiper but rather keyed in through the application; this would explain why the transaction was at a rate of 3.5% rather than 2.75%. As we have explained through our review, even 2.75% is a very large cost and by working with a traditional merchant account you can expect to pay significantly less on both swiped and keyed transactions.

This company is terrible. They do not accept calls. Their email system does not reply with answers, just send you a FAQ page. They are holding my money and won’t call me back. I found a phone number and it’s a mssg machine saying they will call back, they don’t. It’s been a week and they have $8,000 of mine that is not going into my account. I am SOOO frustrated. Do not recommend this to any small business owner, it’s TERRIBLE!

I was just told that the square is not protected if someone is at my business in the parking lot with a scanner they could pick up my customer’s credit card number and use to their advantage.  Is the square protected.  Julie

This Company is some kind of a SCAM.

I am so sorry I signed up for this during the height of our season.
They are holding over 50K of our Companies funds and some payments have been held for over two months. Can not speak to a human and the only e-mail response I got was that they were investigating Suspicious activity. We rent vacation homes and do transactions of $5000 ~ 10,000 each. All of my customers say their credit card was charged long ago and some have even paid their bills. Why is my money being held?

i just hope I get my funds before they go out of business!

BUYER BEWARE! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

they froze my account as well.  I accidentally charge the card twice as I got a text message in the middle of the first transaction.  I provided a ton of back up for my business (vacation rentals) and I have received no reply from them and can’t get a person to talk to…..any ideas for what to do?

They have almost $5000 dollars of my money.

Square is holding over 35 thousand dollars on our Company account, they say for 90 days. Who knows if we will EVER get it.
There have been 70 complaints file with the San Francisco BBB alone in the past 12 months.
YES, use this company if you can AFFORD to HAVE YOUR FUNDS HELD INDEFINITELY AT THEIR WHIM.
They just assume this is O.K. No problem, we don’t need the 35k that
we worked so hard for to pay our bills. PLEASE! I have heard from MANY
customers who have experienced the same thing.
If you are reading this, chances are you too have had a problem.
Report them to the Following: States Attorney General in California AND
your own State (do both), and the BBB.
    They need to be STOPPED!
